I wear a vest all year long, and have many vests. This one is for more dress up occasions and it did the trick. Was impressed with the quality and look.I will be back for other items.

It's a heavier, thicker vest with a straight cut and round bottom. The fit was almost perfect, and I keep getting complimented on it. I may need to find a 'reason' to purchase another.

I have looked for a canvas double breasted vest for a long time, and was unable to find one, until I found Historical Emporium on a search for another item (which I also purchased from them) and was pleased with the vest and its look!

I had been trying to source vests in Australia for a number of months with no luck. I found Historical Emporium by pure chance and decided to give them a go. I ordered this vest along with Humboldt Stripe Vest and Classic Canvas Work Vest - Black in a single order as the three with shipping from the States was still more reasonable than anything that I'd been able to find in Australia. I had deliberately ordered a size up to be safe and on arrival I was very impressed with the quality, style and the time that the vests took to jump the puddle from the CHINA. My tailor when I went to have them taken in (yes I probably should have trusted the sizing listed) also commented on the quality and styling; when measuring and after making the adjustments. Thank you very much (and yes I've now ordered additional vests), highly recommend both the service and product. I'll be back again.

I received many compliments while wearing this vest to an event. I absolutely love it!

I had a dual purpose for ordering this vest. First, I am a volunteer with the California State Park System at Monterey State Historic Park in Monterey, California. I help to put on a program called "Hands On" which teaches 4th grade students about life in early Alta California in the 1830's. One of the "tasks" I teach the children is branding cattle. I already had this vest in tan canvas, but it was always getting sooty from the branding iron fires. I didn't want to eventually ruin that one with multiple washings, so I ordered this vest to show less ash and soot during a week's presentations. Secondly, I am also a Civil War reenactor and this vest will be often worn with my Confederate Marine officer's uniform when it's too hot to wear my wool vest under my wool frock coat, or at a period ball when I want to be just a bit more formal in my Southern gentleman and officer portrayal.

So far I have purchased 5 of the canvas vests 2 double breasted and 3 Commander style All arrived in excellent time and have proven to be of exceptional construction They also show a bit of class at work

The vest is made from sturdy, heavy weight material. The sewing is excellent. The waist adjustment strap is much sturdier than the normal, cheap vest. The design is comfortable. The vest may seem a little expensive, but quality of materials and workmanship make it an excellent value. B
